Every weekday, volunteers at The Stewpot in downtown Little Rock feed the hungry. Typically 150 people eat lunch 5 days a week — old, young, men, women, children, homeless, working or unemployed - but all are grateful for a hot meal, and no one is turned away. Our House’s mission is to empower homeless and near-homeless families and individuals to succeed in the workforce, in school and in life through hard work, wise decision-making and active participation in the community. Now in our 30th year, Our House provides a pathway out of poverty for 1,700 men, women and children annually who come from all over the state of Arkansas to access our services. Services offered on-site on our 7-acre campus include job training, placement and retention programs; adult education, college-readiness, and GED prep programs; financial empowerment programs; health and wellness programs including recovery support services and mental health interventions; case management; shelter and housing where working homeless people can stay for up to two years; re-entry services for formerly incarcerated individuals including legal services and bridges to felon-friendly employment; family services including parenting classes; quality-rated early learning programs for 60 children ages 0-5 each day; and out-of-school time programs for 90 children ages 6-17 each day.
